It’s almost always good news when we hear that one of our favorite indie staples has dropped something new—and Peach Pit did not disappoint. Magpie kicks off with a distant, funky melody that slowly reels you in, setting the stage for everything we love about them: jangly guitars, buttery-smooth bass lines, and drums that keep it all grounded in that laid-back, West Coast sway.
Tracks like “Every Little Thing” and “Little Dive” give us that signature Peach Pit haze—upbeat but emotionally distant in the best way, with vocals that feel like they’re drifting in from a dream you barely remember. There’s an effortless groove running through everything they do, and this album keeps that alive while stretching it in some new directions.
The title track, “Magpie,” stands out with its haunting minor-key melody that dances between tension and release. There’s a real push and pull in the songwriting—it swells, it softens, and it keeps you locked in.
Peach Pit has been doing their thing since 2016, and almost a decade later, they’re still evolving without ever losing what made us fall in love with them in the first place. Magpie is more than just a solid release—it’s proof that Peach Pit’s still got it, and they’re not done growing yet.
